Natural Wastewater Treatment System Workshop

For many small communities, natural treatment systems are a viable, low-cost, effective means of treating wastewater. A properly constructed treatment system that is designed to work with the local topography has many advantages including: a high level of treatment, low operational expenses, low construction costs, reduced or eliminated odor problems, handling of varying wastewater loadings, reduced land costs for land application of wastewater, aesthetic appeal, and providing wildlife habitat.

With farm costs at an all time high, energy is now a major item on the agenda of the farming industry. Join White River RC&D and a panel of energy saving experts at the 2010 Farm Energy Conservation workshop. This event will allow farmers and growers to take an in-depth look at their farm energy consumption, learn the ins and outs of an energy audit, and learn practical solutions to reducing their farm energy bill.

Stump to Product Tour
The Stump to Product Tour is an annual event and is a very popular because it not only gives local citizens an internal view of how some of their neighbors live and work, but it also enhances their knowledge of the importance of the forests that surround their homes and cities. This year's tour will be held in Paoli, Indiana.

Family Forest Fun Day
The second annual ‘Family Forest Fun Day’ is being co-sponsored by the White River RC&D Forestry Committee and Sycamore Land Trust in Lawrence County on Saturday, October 9th at Murray Park in Bedford, Indiana. Join the fun as volunteers provide educational entertainment centered around forest and natural resource issues! Session topics included orienteering, plant identification, wild animal calls, old fashioned crosscut bucksaw demonstrations, tree height calculations and more!.
